$4,000.00The Ibanez George Benson semi-hollowbody has earned legendary status among archtops. And it deserves the attention. Ibanez craftsmanship has stood the test of time, and this guitar is a perfect example of this. It is a 14.5" jazz archtop with a spruce top and maple back and sides. The neck is three-piece maple with an ebony fretboard, abalone block inlays, and nut composed of half brass and half bone. GB adjustable tailpiece and two floating mini humbucker pickups. Gold hardware throughout with a nice touch of "pearl" buttons on the Smooth Tuners.
This one is among the "original" series of George Benson's built in 1984. Hand signed by George Benson on the label. The selection of woods for this specimen is outstanding. In particular, take a look at the tight grain of the top and the piece of spalted maple selected for the back (with some subtle flame/burl mixed in). Set up with flatwounds at low action equally a fast and buttery feel.
There is light handling/playwear but it remains in excellent condition. There is some yellowing of the trim but no crumbling. Take a close look at all pics.
In very good cosmetic condition and has recently been given a full setup in house - plays, feels and sounds killer!
Case: Comes with original hard shell case.
Condition: Excellent with some signs of play wear on the pickguard. The gold hardware has aged, worn and pitted.
