Fender JB-62 Jazz Bass Reissue 1993-1994 MIJ

Up for sale, a 1993-1994 Fender Jazz Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model JB62-58 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This “Made in Japan” Jazz Bass was produced for the Japanese domestic market and is uncommon outside of its country of origin.

Tonewoods include a basswood body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard, and this bass has a smooth, balanced natural acoustic response. There’s plenty of midrange presence and articulate growl on tap via the pair of single coil pickups, and rolling off the Tone knob yields round thump. This JB62-58 weighs 4.28kg, professionally setup here at Clingan Guitar Tone with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a slender U-shaped profile carve at the nut with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, offering a gentle increase in heft further up the fretboard, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .960” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire is flawless. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. The headstock sports a ‘62-style Fender Jazz Bass logo, and the back of the headstock has a third strap button for further vintage accuracy. The original set of nickel-plated tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with clover buttons. The “Made in Japan” text and N-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics function as intended, with a standard Jazz Bass control configuration, and the harness is untouched, with full-size Japanese pots. The chrome-plated control plate and bridge base have plenty of shine, with a faint dusting of surface patina on the steel barrel saddles. Plastics comprise the trio of knobs and red "tomato soup" four-ply tortoise pickguard.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss three-tone Sunburst finish includes a number of minor dings on the body as a whole, and a bit of minor buckle worming on the back. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss.
